Friday Morning: Dr. Jill Preminger
Shared Decision Making - A Way to Build Trust with New Patients

Dr. Jill Preminger is Professor and Director of the Program in Audiology, University of Louisville School of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Communicative Disorders in the Department of Otolaryngology & Communicative Disorders.  Dr. Preminger’s research interests are in adult rehabilitative audiology using both quantitative and qualitative methods.  She is interested in understanding the audiologic rehabilitative process (including the uptake and use of hearing aids) from the point of view of adults with hearing loss, their spouses, and their adult children.  Currently, she is developing an internet-based self-management program with the intent to improve the uptake of audiology services in adults with unaddressed hearing impairment.

Friday Afternoon: Dr. Rita Chaiken
The Ins and Outs of Cerumen Management

Dr. Rita R. Chaiken graduated from Syracuse University, Emory University, and received an Au.D. from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University) where she was awarded the 2014 Osborne College of Audiology Alumna of the Year Award. Dr. Chaiken has previously served as an educational audiologist, regional manager for a hearing aid manufacturer, and founder, owner, and operator of a private audiology practice. She served two terms on of State of Georgia Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Presently, she is an Adjunct Professor of Audiology at Salus University as well as past president of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology. She has traveled in the United States and internationally to provide cerumen management training to audiologists and Au.D. candidates, and was honored by the Audiology Foundation of America with its Professional Leadership Award for her work in this area.

Saturday Morning: Dr. John Greer Clark
Listening and Responding: Addressing Unspoken Concerns to Promote Forward Movement

John Greer Clark, PhD, is a professor of audiology at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Clark is a past Chair of the American Board of Audiology and past president of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology. Co-author of Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care, he is a frequent national and international presenter on hearing loss and hearing help.
